JC (03/21)- Deadlift, Military Press, Light Oly

Hey guys,
so I'm in Florida for the next 2 weeks (taking an extra week off :) )

Didn't have access to any bumper plates or platforms, so I had to do with what was available.

Snatch-
Some light warm ups
135x1
Didn't go any heavier because of lack of B plates.

Deadlift-
135x5
225x5
315x3
365x1 (Old PR)
405x1 (40 lb PR)
Finally hit 400+ lbs!Pretty happy about this PR. I guess training for Oly gets me stronger too :)

Military Press-
55x4
105x4
135x4
165x4 (5lb PR)
195x1 (35lb PR)
195x1
205x1 (45 lb PR)
Felt pretty ambitious. I think my form was pretty bad when doing the 205 press- w/e, I'll take it.

Lat Pulldowns-
100x10
150x10
200xbroke the last plate, so had to move to 190
190x3x8

Ab work.

Frank (3/18): Starting Strength, Light

So, I was feeling really sleepy when I got home from work and decided that if I didn't go to the Z right away, I was going to fall asleep. I arrive there about an hour earlier than usual and run into JC along with a really strong guy that I've never seen before. The guy's name is Mike Nackoul, an Olympic lifter who lifts 131/171 (that's ~289lbs/377lbs), and he's only 18! Beastly. I also just learned (through Google) that he's the school-aged (meaning, I guess, high school) national champion. With those lifts, I'm not terribly surprised.

So my original plan of a quick workout went out the window as I practiced some snatch high pulls and generally bummed around, at least in the beginning of the workout.

Some snatch high pulls
1 successful snatch
(70kg, embarrassing! I can barely do overhead squats anymore either. Gah.)

Back Squat
5x45, 5x95, 5x135, 5x185, 5x225
5x275 @ 8
5x275 @ 8

Military Press
5x45, 5x95
5x155 @ 8
5x155 @ 8
5x155 @ 8

Pullup
5x55 @ 8
5x55 @ 8
5x55 @ 8

Ab Pulldown: 3x16 @ 190
Bicep Curl: 2x10 @ 40

JC (6/03)- Oly

Met up with Mike today- couldn't be more pumped about Olympic lifting.

Initial warm ups-
RDL
Snatch Pull
Some other stuff I can't remember

Snatch-
Biggest lift was 72 kilos- (2 kilo PR)

Clean and Jerk-
Biggest lift was 105 kilos- (5 kilo PR)

Shins were bloody as heck by this point :)

High Bar Squat-
50 kilosx3
100 kilosx3
120 kilosx1
140 kilosx1
150 kilosx1
160 kilos-Fail
Was pretty exhausted by this point.

I am really excited to start training. I am 100 kilos away in both lifts from Olympic level quality. I'm ready to put in maximum effort to achieve my dreams.

JC (03/03)- Clean and Jerk

Came in sleep deprived, and decided to do some Clean and Jerks

40 kilosx3
60 kilosx3
80 kilosx3
After this point, I became pretty ambitious, and decided to break my old PR.
100 kilos- Fail
Was very nervous for some reason, and didn't catch the bar properly.
100 kilosx1 (10 kilo PR)
Form was pretty terrible. Shanker suggested that I should try working on explosiveness. Overall though, it didn't feel too heavy. Tomorrow I will train with Mike, so I'm sure I'll get some good tips from him.

JC (12/08)- Oly Training

Hey Guys,
So I finally decided to make the trip all the way to Excel Sports & Fitness in Waltham. It was a pain, considering I got lost in Brandeis and it was cold as heck.. but I got there.

Anyways, I immediately started practicing the lifts with primary coach Ben Fuller. I think I progressed pretty nicely, and I really enjoyed this tiring yet fruitful session. I know for a fact that Olympic Weightlifting is what I want to continue doing- I just feel exhilarated when performing the lifts.

I do feel bummed that bench pressing doesn't really help in Olympic lifts, considering it was my favorite of the three power lifts.

I'll be keeping you guys posted.
