Frank (3/3): Openers

Squat
5x45, 5x135, 5x185, 5x225, 3x275, 3x315, 1x365, 1x405
3x420
The first was great. The second was a little slow and I tipped forward a bit. The third was pretty badly rounded but nowhere near as bad as some of my old reps were. I didn't have anyone there to check, but I'm pretty sure all were to depth or below.

Bench
5x45, 5x95, 5x135, 5x185, 3x225, 1x265
1x295
I was grinding through the second rep when my spotter decided to give me a few pounds of assistance. When I say "Don't touch the bar," don't touch the bar. The first rep had a good long pause.

Deadlift
5x135, 5x225, 5x315, 3x365, 3x405, 1x455, 1x495, 1x545
2x585
First was good. Second was like a scared cat. Passed on the third.

I think my squat and deadlift openers are fine (190 and 265 respectively). I'm torn on the bench. I'll stick with 132.5 for now but may consider lowering it depending on how I feel next Saturday.

I weighed 182.8 this morning, down from a morning weight of 186.6 a few weeks ago. I haven't even really tried to lose weight recently, so I don't know where it all went. I'm no longer concerned about making weight, though, since I'm certain that once I stop doing GOWAD I'll be fine.

Also, here are two cool links.
1. Jennifer Thompson benching 300 at 132. She weighs 50lbs less than I do, benches more than I can, and is a girl. Very impressive. Very emasculating. When I train at TPS, the other lifters never fail to remind me of her.

2. An analysis of the effect of limb length on squatting. The best parts of the article are the little flash games. This is one of the best articles I've ever seen written on the subject.

  2. She has a wide grip, I wonder if she's ever had any injuries.
