Frank (11/4): Bench, Intensity 3

Bench Press (paused, no sleeves)
5x45, 5x95, 5x135, 3x185, 3x225, 1x255
1x280
Easy.
1x305 (PR + 5)
Surprisingly easy. I almost dropped it on my forehead, though. My technique needs some work.
Fx315
Nuts.
Put on sleeves. Change to touch and go.

Fx315
Nuts.

Military Press
5x45, 5x95, 3x135
1x185
1x210 (PR + 5)
Fx215

Barbell Row: 4x8 @ 225
Dumbbell Incline Bench: 4x8 @ 80
Dumbbell Preacher Curl: 6, 5 @ 45

I was surprised by how little my sleeves helped. I thought that I was getting at least 5-10 pounds out of them, but I guess the aid was mostly psychological/pain relief. I only hit 5lb PRs, but as people have reminded me, progress is progress.

  1. Progress is good!
Did you almost dropped it before or after the lift?
Why did you decide to jump to 315 rather than 310 even after you failed it once?

  4. I have a riddle.
Question: You just benched 310, congratulations, what's your next goal?

  6. Your question reminds me of the Jim Wendler quote: "Now that you pressed 300, whats your next goal?" W: "305". Very straightfoward.

  7. Thanks dudes. And I'm not sure I get the riddle, but yes, the next goal is 310 (or 315, depending on how I feel on singles day).

  8. It wasn't really a riddle, just a reference to the Wendler quote JC mentioned above. All progress is good progress.
