Aaron (9/12)

9/12/10

Tested maxes today, I regret not having a video camera.

Overhead Press: 160lbs x1 (+15lbs PR)
170lbs x0

Low Bar Belted Squat: 365lbs x1 (+30lbs PR)
440lb walkout
405lbs x0
405lbs x1 (+70lbs PR)

Bench: 250lbs x1
275lbs x0

Deadlift: 455lbs x1
495lbs x1
515lbs x0

I'm happy to get a 4 plate squat. I squatted as deep as I can go and came back up. The first time the bar fell forward and went higher than a high bar position. Nothing much to say. New total is 1150lbs. Bodyweight 198lbs or 90kg. Four more days off and its back to training. Max singles are hard.

Merry Christmas JC.

  1. Wow.

List of sports Aaron likes can be expanded to include baseball and soccer now. Maybe hockey too

  4. You wrote the following less than a month ago, "My short term goals have now been focused on repping 225lb on bench, 155lbs on OP, 315lbs on squat, and 405lbs on deadlift. 135lbs OP was already reached, and I feel I have that down easily. 405lbs will take the longest, about 8 training weeks or 80 days if I'm careful."

Given your 1 RM as established above all of these should be attainable now, particularly for squats and DL's.

  5. Huge PRs!!! But if the objective was to test your powerlifting total, then the overhead press may have affected your BP. Also, you could have tried 260 or 265; there are about 4 integers between 250 and 275.

  6. I probably can rep those, but I'm just going to progress up there 5lbs at a time. I'm no longer in any rush.

I imagine the overhead press would affect it a bit, but the objective was more like to get an estimate. I have a love/hate relationship with bench. So I didn't really care about getting 260. I was fine with 250. My plan now is to try and get a 1200 total in a meet.
