Chris - 7/22

TM - Recovery
Squat:
Warmup: 45x5; 45x5; 95x4; 135x3; 185x2
220x5; 220x5
Oy, my hip flexors.

Military Press:
Warmup: 45x5; 45x5; 65x4; 85x3
102x3; 102x3; 102x3
Splitting headache occurred while racking warmups, but went away by the time I did my work sets.

Pullups:
+0x4; +10x2; +25x5; +25x5; +25x5
No comment.

Feeling like shit (mentally and physically) for the last two weeks. I can lift the weight, but I really have to dig deep to steel myself, and even everyday movement feels "heavy." I hate to say it, but I think I need to deload, marking the end of my first "block" of Texas Method, I suppose.

Proposed Changes:
-Still not sure whether to alternate bench press with military press on intensity days (I'd still try to hit a 3RM or so on it)
-Weighted chinups instead of pullups. I can stick on more weight on a chinup, and I feel obligated to do both anyway.

Otherwise, TM is a fun change of pace from SS, even if volume days make me want to curl up in a corner.

  1. Hi Chris. I think that it will be helpful to write a summary post on TM. Things like general description of the program, before and after 3RM (/5RM/?RM) in core lifts, changes in bodyweight, equipment (with/out belt, knee wraps, etc), important remarks, and whatnot.

This can serve as a self-summary further down the road (in 2013, reading a single post would be easier than tracking 30 workouts). Also, this way it's easier to get (general) advice from people who don't see you on a regular basis.

  2. Frank and I talk to Chris about these things on a pretty regular basis, but yes this is an excellent idea...hopefully, Danny, you see Chris's next post and Chris, put a little summary in the comments.
