Went to the A-center instead of the Z-center (and got lost on the way, too). I love how they cram all of their free weights into 15'x15' space and leave the rest for treadmills.

The first 95% rep was a little sloppy. The second was a little slow. I don't think I was very careful about pausing these.

2x505 (Oops...wasn't supposed to do this)

WTF? At first I blamed the knurling, but I think it might be the stupid plates. The plates were the "hexagonal" plates with three round sides, which made them spin oddly whenever I lifted. Maybe I was just tired, too, but I don't think this was an off day for me.

The squat rack there doesn't have the side protection bars, right? What would you do if you failed on a squat there?
ReplyDeleteYeah. I had Brian give me a spot, so I was OK. Thanks, Brian!

ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't worry too much about the trouble on 95%'ers. Like I said, I had similar trouble mid-Sheiko. I can only imagine that trouble would be amplified on new equipment. The bench was definitely a lot skinnier than the Z benches, which was an issue for me. Also, I was wondering how you were going to deadlift with those crazy weights...
After a tapering to max day I crushed PR's. You'll do the same.
I blame the facility. I have tried to deadlift at the Alumni gym several times. I always lift significantly less. I think it mostly because of the geometry of the bars and plates, no platform, weights loose on the bar etc.
ReplyDelete@B&G: Good to know! I hope I haven't screwed anything up programming-wise since I was chugging along pretty well on Sheiko.
