New Junior Deadlift World Record

350kg/771lbs. Insane.

  1. The first squat looked good to me...

Another thing...note how high his hips are while deadlifting. "Long arms, high hips, strong deadlifts."

It seems like everyone with this build who's deadlifted for a while can blast off the floor but then slows at lockout. (Noticed this with Brent's videos and Frank and I both have this problem). So here's my question, what do people with this build do to solve this?

  2. -Re the deadlift comment, important to differentiate between how low he sinks and where he ACTUALLY starts the lift. A la Ed Coan.

  3. -- That was one huge pull.
-- @Shanker: 99.9% of lifters who have very good deadlifts are explosive off the floor. And slowing down will always happen (with near-maximal weights); otherwise, you will be able to power clean 500#. So your problem is actually everyone's problem (though other people may have additional problems that are masking this one).

  4. How tall is this guy? Could be the video quality, but he looks like he's my build. 6'?

This video gives me hope that I too can one day lift heavy weights.

  5. @Shanker: Get stronger?

@Brian: I think he's 5'10" or so, so you may have to gain a few pounds anyway :).

  6. His training log is basically "LIFT HEAVY THINGS AND LIFT THEM OFTEN." I feel like a poser for being on 5/3/1 now.
