Nathan - 8/16/10 - Upper

1/2 Foam Roller Press w Pause - 245x5x3, 275x1, 295x1 @9.5

This was surprisingly good. I was good for more on the last one, but I decided to be happy with a success. This isn't _that_ far off what I could bench at my best, especially since I'm not psyching up or really arching or blocking or trying very hard. Bench only?

Rear delt flies - 35x10x4
Pressdowns - 80x6,8

  1. I think bench only would be perfect since you won't put quite as much pressure on your torso as squatting or deadlifting. Then again, this does depend on what your doctor says.

  2. Blocking is where you put a lot of pressure on your abdomen and create a "block" that gives you a lot of stability through your 'core'.

  3. Is it kind of like holding your breath when you squat?

Nate, is this why you posted the link to the USPF meet?

  5. @ Aaron: That's exactly what it is.

@ Shanker: No, I'm just on the USPF mailing list.

  6. Just learn to squat and deadlift without blocking. Then you can go back to training.

  7. This is basically what I've been experimenting with, but its impossible to do even mild weight without putting a lot of pressure (even if you are trying not to). Whereas benching is just natural.
