Shanker's Bench gets stuck. 03/13

Bench Press
225x3 (failed 4th about 4/5 inches off chest. This is a recurring theme here...)
225x3 (failed 4th about 4/5 inches off chest.)
225x3 (failed 4th about 3/4 inches off chest.)
225x3 (failed 4th about 2/3 inches off chest.)
225x3 (no 4th attempt)

Thanks to the astute observational power of Jason and Chris. My problem seems to be transitioning power from my chest to my tris. Will probably bug Danny about this on gchat at some point this week. Suffice to say I am revising BP goals for next week...

DB Rows (without straps)
120x20
120x24
120x30

30 reps is really quite painful...and boring.

Pullups
BWx10x3

Overhead Press (with belt)
135x3x4

Thoughts on the night:
1)Where is Dave?
2)Can Frank deadlift a car?
3)Chris is cool, I regret not really "noticing" him until a couple weeks back.
4)Jason is also cool, but we already knew that.

  1. There are many reasons for getting stuck after making good progress. In fact, advanced lifters are always "stuck", or more precisely, make (small) improvements very slowly. One thing to be worried about is Dave saying things like "Shanker is training hard" a couple of times, which I'm guessing stands for "Shanker uses maximal or near-maximal weights ...". Even with the reduced volume from the original GVT plan, 2-3 weeks like this can leave you slightly overtrained. So maybe we need to look into cycle programming again.
