Kik - 11/07/2009 - Lower

Still first intensity week, still hunting for heavy singles. The plan was to collect a solid PR on deadlift.
A plan can be defined as a "scheme, program, or method worked out beforehand for the accomplishment of an objective". A plan can fail...

I should mention that I brought my belt again; however, I refrained from employing it due to its awkward feel.

Deadlift:

315x1 @7
/* belt on*/
365x1 @uncomfortable (this one really sucked, when I let the weight down, my back feels different/ unhealthy)
/* belt off*/
405x1 @8.5
455 FAIL
455 FAIL
435x1 @10 PR (I did not max out on deads for 9 weeks, so a 10lbs PR is rather sad. Even more sad is the fact that this attempt was slightly ramped)

Not sure what happened here; I got the weight comfortably off the ground but could not transition into lifting it over my knees. Maybe I should have done a 425 before jumping up 50 lbs?)

/*belt on*/
315x1 for testing - belt still feels awkward, I cannot create as much tension in my midsection in comparison od deadlifting without a belt.

After that, lower back was fried and I called it a day.
