Felt pretty good about today's workout, although I need to keep working on things like not rounding my back and not doing what I believe is called "the butt wink" or something like that.
Deadlifts-
Warm-up set-
135, 185, 225, 275- 1x5
Work set-
320- 1x5
Squat-
Warm-up set-
45, 95, 135, 185, 225- 1x5
Work set-
245- 5x5
So I've been adding 10 lbs each work out to both my deadlift and squat, and I'm definitely feeling the squats are getting harder to finish. I actually tried doing 245 5x5 this past Saturday, but I only managed to do 3 sets before fatigue kicked in. I feel it probably has to do with me not having eaten that day because even though today I was also tired, I managed to finish the full 5 sets. Next dead/squat workout I will still add 10lbs to the dead but I will do 250 for the squat.
Ab Pulldowns- 3x15
All in all it was a good workout, and I'm glad to have met Rene, Gordon, Bryan, Jon , Patrick and Robert (I hope I didn't miss anyone).

ReplyDeleteThere is a video series on youtube called Squat Rx. It is the best thing you can find. My squat isn't anything great, but, just stretch your hams, butt, and groin (in order of importance), and do leg swings and pop some squats during the day, and in a few weeks your wink will be gone!
ReplyDeleteGood job, 5x5's are hard as hell.
It was nice to meet you too, JC. Forgot to ask, how much do you weigh?
ReplyDeleteI guess you're doing 5x5 squats twice/week, 1x5 deadlifts once/week, and RTS with Frank for bench? Is that the routine you've decided on?
