Frank (August 4): Light Upper (meet -3 weeks)

Speed Bench: 8x3@145
Close-Grip Bench: 7, 7, 5 @ 225
Pullup: 8, 8, 7, 7 @ 60
Military Press: 7, 7, 5 @ 155
Barbell Curl: 4@105, 6@95

Weighed in at 171 right before the workout today, which is at least 4 pounds less than I was a few months ago and a few pounds less than normal as of even a few weeks ago. Arg. I'm pretty sure I'm eating enough since my diet hasn't changed at all in the last few months. The loss of weight probably explains some of the sub-par lifting I did today as well.

I was surprised at how weak I was at barbell curls. I was also getting forearm splints during the middle of the set, which reminds me why I moved to EZ-bar curls many years ago. This was alleviated somewhat by making my grip a little narrower.

  1. Frank, I remember that one of your long-term objectives was to gain some size (not sure). For this purpose, it might be a good idea to have a nutrition log. I have something similar for the opposite purpose (avoid getting heavier).

  2. The military presses after all that other work are very impressive. This is standing, I assume?

  3. @Danny: That's a good point, but I think I'm going to not post it here in order to avoid cluttering up the site with frivolous posts...

@Nate: Yeah, those are standing. I cheated a little and did't quite bring the bar all the way down to my collarbone though.

  4. Yes, no need to post anything that is not related to training here. After all, the title reads "training logs for MIT affiliates".

  5. Yes...but diet is part of training. And "MIT Affiliates" is not exactly 100% accurate...see Frank.

  6. -- Diet is not part of training, unless you are into competitive eating. Nutrition and training are two different (but related) things.

-- Frank is more MIT affiliate than anyone else.

  7. Ah yes. Deep in my soul, when my body and mind have been stripped away, only three letters remain.
