Justin 5/3/1

Football training has picked up intensity lately, as we did 4x5's squat and bench the last two days. I figured because of that, I just wouldn't do any assistance today, but I really should have just taken the day off, because last month, I did 300x11 on these...

  1. You might want to take a look at the entire football lifting program or get your coach to tell you what it is. I was under the impression that it was just the bosu-ball stuff you described before, but if it has squat/bench/deadlift/clean already, it might actually be decent.

  2. They have all those (except RDL's instead of deadlifts) but a lot of it is supersetted together and around 6-8 reps (although this week was 4x5)

  3. Supersetting is OK, and 6-8 reps is not necessarily a bad thing. I just wanted to point out that you need to take a look at your program as a whole instead of doing separate football/5-3-1 workouts. It looks like your football program has the big lifts and some sort of periodization (from what I can tell), so you need to see what it's missing (if anything) and program your extra workouts around that.
