JC (08/15)- Bench and Tris

Went on weeklong cruise- fun times, not enough lifting though.

Lifted with benching buddy (yes Frank, the guy that got to 315 from doing less than 225 in about 4 months)

Bench-
235x12- Better than 2 weeks before when I repped out 225x10
245x10- This was a surprise, didn't expect I could do 10 reps after tiring myself out on previous set.
265x5-

Weighted dips-
x10
1 plate x 10
2 plate x 2- Dead by this point
1 plate x 6 (I think, forgot to bring notebook with me to keep track)
1 plate x 2

Skull crushers-
50x10
50x8
50x6
Triceps pretty fried by this point.

Tricep extensions with straight bar-
60x15
70x15
80x15
80x15

My focus on developing a stronger bench (apart from benching obviously) is to really target and isolate my triceps to make them bigger and stronger. This is something I have deviated from in the past, among other things like not sticking to my training....

Looking forward to squatting and deadlifting.

  1. Yeah, RUB IT IN, why don't you? Just you see. I will be benching 3 plates by the end of the year.

    *grumble grumble*

    And from now on, nobody is allowed to mention anything about "long arms" on my bench days. It screws with my mind.
