I was looking up the info for the "meet in May" that everyone keeps talking about.
Is it this one?

AAU RAW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
May 7, Rockland MA
It seems to be run by the same guys (BigRich of Big Iron).
There's also full power meet April 30 in NH (http://www.elitepowerlifting.com/current_events.html)

I think it's the AAU RAW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, it's held at the same place and run by the same guys, that's why they mentioned it in the last meet.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys want to join April 30's meet, I am also ok.
I'm also pretty sure it's the AAU Raw Nationals. It's close enough that we should probably keep track of who's going, so, for what it's worth, I'm in.
ReplyDeleteXiao, Michael and I will also participate in the meet.
ReplyDeleteBecause the week after May 14 we will have our finals, so I prefer May 7th meet.
ReplyDeleteThis is the link for May 7th meet:

I think there are quite a lot of lifters for this meet according to last a couple of years results.
Sheng, we've done this meet before. Last summer it was called AAU New Englands, this time its AAU Nationals, regardless its run by the same guys and its roughly around May/June.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I'm with Frank. It would be good to do a meet in a different federation and USAPL is certainly legit. In addition, I could use the extra week (at this point so close to the meet, we all could). But neither of us has exams... (although if youre a sloanie I better not hear you complain).
The AAU one is actually different from the one we did a year ago. Big Iron did at least three meets last year: Cabin Fever (Feb), Raw Nationals (Apr), and NE Regionals (Jun). We did the first and last of those.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that finals were around that time. If I were a student, I'd definitely do the May 7 one, and my personal preference would be to lift when everyone else is lifting because that's always more fun. Which other full time students are likely to be competing? The only one I can think of would be Keone.
Shaker, the meet you guys did was a local meet, this year will be held in July (http://bigironpowerlifting.com/WordPress/?p=13) you can find previous year's meet here:

This meet is a national meet, you can find previous year's meet here:

I guess it will be more competitive, since last year there were more than double lifter in that Raw national championship than in New England championship.
Xiao and Michael are both full time students, who will very likely to compete.
Well, then I stand corrected. As for what I'm gonna do I'll wait and see what Chris, Mark and Keone decide, based on that I may or may not do the USAPL meet, though that's what I'd really be interested in doing.
ReplyDeleteI'm up for either. I'm a second-term senior so I don't really care about finals. Also the meet is on Saturday so there's still Sunday to cram.
ReplyDeleteLet's go lift! :D
Are Mark and Chris going to compete? Also, Mark should probably start posting here since he's already an author, as should you, Mr. "I'm too good for the blog" :).
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna assume that's directed at me. Not too good for the blog, more like too lazy for the blog.
