Last Sat. Bench: 185lbs x5
200lbs x5
Overhead Press: 125lbs x3 sets x5 reps
Pull ups +25lbs x5, x5, x8 reps
Today: Grip Work: two hand plate pinches (2 5kg plates on a 45lb bar): 35lbs x20s, 40lbs x20s, 45lbs x20s
one hand 3 5kg plates: 15s both hands (PR)
Deadlift: 325lbs x5, 345lbs x5, 345lbs x5
Wrist curl : 30lbs x20, 40lbs x20, 50lbs x20 (PR, working up slowly has its benefits, no wrist pain. I also cut the ROM so my wrist isn't bending in ways its not supposed to).
Reverse Wrist Curl: 20lbs x20, 30lbs x20, 40lbs x15 (same, good rom, nice and short)
Didn't do finger curls b/c of the deadlifts. Weight 195lbs on a good day...
Oh, and 50 burpees this morning in 5min.

Grip work? Wrist curls? I dunno about you, but I generally prefer to do those sets in the privacy of my own home...
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, don't you think "grip work" as it pertains to the isolation of "grip" as an exercise is a waste of time?
Do chins til failure, kroc rows, towel pullups, things that kill multiple birds with one stone. Go try to rep a 100 lb dumbbell 30 times. I guarantee your grip gives out before your back.
In general yes. I want to start nail bending though, and I need some wrist exposure before I start that. I'll eventually move on to levering. I definitely would have been ashamed of the wrist curls had I not done deads before. We'll see where it takes me, it can't hurt.
