Announcing My Retirement

Sorry that my lifting career was so short, and I didn't get to lift as much as I wanted to with you guys. Its not so much my knee injury as it is other priorities. This past month I got over my fear of being too small or too weak, or that feeling that I wouldn't be tough if I didn't lift weights or train in martial arts. I might lift occasionally, or "get back into i"t, but currently I'm concentrating on not just school, but actual engineering. This means consistently getting 4 hours of sleep and living of monster, and saving money instead of spending it on lots of food. Maybe I can still achieve my lifting and martial arts goals like this, and you can bet I'll fight like hell to accomplish those. But right now I'm fighting like hell to get some big projects done. Its a combination of school + UROP + race car team (FSAE) + independent machining.

Thanks to all of you who helped me. I appreciate it a lot. Good luck to all you guys in future meets. Even though I won't continue seriously lifting right now, what I have learned in weightlifting and gained from it is permanent.

Bye for now,

Aaron

  1. Balancing MIT and other stuff is tough man. Good luck--I'm glad we got to meet (when you were telling a 120 pound dude in spandex doing quarter squats to do Starting Strength :P) and I agree with you that the lessons from lifting will help with everything else. Go tear it up in engineering.

  2. Sorry to see you go, Aaron. When goals conflict like this, though, it definitely does pay to make sure that you're working toward what's important to you. You're only in college once, but the weights will be the same when you return.
