405xPOP. FUCK.

yes, there was a tiny little pop in my lower back. Nothing seized up, no spasms, but when something goes pop you drop the weight and don't touch it again. When I tweaked my back in April I went down like I got shot, but here I just dropped the weight (from knee height) and stood there for a few seconds. Walked around cursing for a bit, but I felt fine 5 minutes later, albeit a little stiff when in my DL stance. Tested 315 for 1 which came up easy but tight. Rested for a bit, foam rolled, stretched back out and felt ok.

Pause Squats (done with extreme caution when warming up, felt no ill effects, so went ahead with it)

core stuff.

Alright, I'm literally sitting in my bath tub filled with ice right now, stretch this thing out thoroughly and knock on any wood like surface.

Hurr.

As a side note, I have discovered the perfect dessert (yes, for after my chocolate chip pancakes.)
Bacon dipped in something sweet.
No kidding, so far I've tried chocolate and honey. Next on the list are butterscotch and caramel.
I'm also thinking of using it as a topping on a sundae. Will inform as discoveries continue...

-Shaw's sells maple-flavored bacon or something like that.

Your discovery is, unfortunately, not completely novel. I applaud your culinary openness, though.

  2. Is there any pain in your lower back right now? Since you were able to squat as usual, most chances are that nothing serious happened.

Also, the ice tub is a good idea in general, but I prefer to do these things more locally. For example, during the last intensity block, I iced knees, ankles, and lower back (after SQ+DL); also elbows and wrists (after BP). This allows me to finish the block (relatively) pain free.

  3. just overall soreness, much like i would feel after a particularly heavy DL day (which I guess this was). Also pretty tight, but it should be ok.
Ice baths are awesome, unfortunately the water in my tub comes out too warm, so I have to stockpile ice everyday for my leg workouts.

  4. Nice recipes. I like the look people give you when you start eating bacon like its meat instead of the heart killing treat people think it is.
